Prosecutors push back against motions to suppress evidence filed by Bryan Kohberger’s attorneys. Prosecutors William Thompson and Ashley Jennings say searches of Kohberger’s person and belongings, including his car, phone records, Apple accounts and homes, were valid. While most facts behind the Franks Motion filed by the defense remain sealed, parallels exist in the suppression debate. Kohberger, a former criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University, faces charges in connection with the fatal stabbing of four University of Idaho students — Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in off-campus housing on November 13, 2022. Kohberger’s lawyers accuse investigators of an overbroad attempt to build their case. But prosecutors contend search warrants were “sufficiently particular and valid”.
